Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching tem everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

Mirrored Finish

(Acts 3 vs 6)

It’s that time of the year

When the words “fiscal”, “financial” and “tax” are used even more to label

The end of the previous 12 months

And the start of the next 12.

Tax codes change, pay increases are given or not

And people try to work out if they are worse or better off

In “real terms” after the changes.

And, let’s not forget those ISAs with deadlines!

These two Apostles are on their way to pray

Preoccupied with going to the house of worship.

And, as would be common in the Near East,

They would encounter poverty because of disability.

Maybe not good news, then, for the lame man to hear that the one thing he wanted

They didn’t have.

They saw the real need in the man, which wasn’t a piece of silver.

So, here’s a thought:

Not being preoccupied with money may help you see the need in others.

Because, the only difference between a piece of glass

Through which you can see others,

And a mirror, In which you only see yourself

Is just a small amount of silver.

So in all the fiscal planning and assessments which are not in themselves wrong,

Let’s not get too preoccupied.

Your Father in heaven knows what you need anyway.
