Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching tem everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

Window Dressing

(Romans 8 v 28, Exodus 40:22-27)

Christians are called.

But do they know it?

It is an altogether different concept to just “drifting”.

But even in the calling there are deeper truths.

Why have we been called? What to?

The apostle solidly links this to the purpose of God.

Called according to His Purpose. His Prothesis

This is a planned purpose...one that has had careful thought.

The priests of Moses tabernacle would lay out bread in the presence of God

It was literally “The bread of setting before”

Laid out according to a purpose.

The bread would soak in the light of the lamp (figurative of the Holy Spirit)

It would absorb the fragrance of the incense..(which smelled amongst other things, of redemption).

It would bask in the very presence of God as it filtered through the veil.

Could we, who are called, gain anything less than this bread?

Would it be too much for us to see ourselves as containers, absorbers

Of this heavenly treasure?

We can resist the Holy Spirit, and dry out soon enough.

Or spend time in His presence and engage with the very purpose

Of our calling.
