Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching tem everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

Guaranteed

(2 Cor 1:22, Hebrews 7:22)

Some years ago, we bought a kitchen knife

It was something special.

The “World’s Sharpest Knife” it said.

It also came with a guarantee which was, amazingly,

“For Ever”

Then I read the small print.

“This guarantee shall be enforced for the lifetime of the World’s Sharpest Knife company”

OK that makes sense.

Then I read the address:

Twin Towers Trading, New Jersey.

As I read this and recollected the events of 9th September 2001,

I was struck by the actual fragility of the guarantee.

Because it was only as good as long as the company survived

(and it may have done, of course).

In our journey, God does not act as a salesman

Because there is no pitch.

He offers a life lived in fellowship with Him

A right now life, but also the prospect of a life to come

And, an inheritance.

This also comes with a guarantee

No attack of the enemy can destroy it

This guarantee really is “For Ever”

Because He is.
