Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching tem everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

Building

(Luke 6 v 46 – 49, Luke 7)

Following on from the familiar analogy

Of building either on rock or sand

Jesus then encounters 3 people

All with one thing in common

A big storm had hit their life

A centurion, a widow and a “sinful woman”

How had they built, how will they now build?

The first two had lost people, the third had nothing left to lose except a jar of perfume.

Their approach was different, the first acting in faith

The second reacting to Jesus’ presence

The third understanding something about complete helplessness.

In each one, though, when the moment came there was a complete reliance upon the words of this man

The Storm did not determine the outcome.

Approaching Jesus in a storm, letting Jesus have his way in a storm, or falling at his feet in a storm

That determined the outcome.

When the moment came, they built on the rock

And all came through.

It is moment by moment, in each situation.
