Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching tem everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

The Garden

(Luke 20, Genesis 3)

The resurrection story as a "new beginning" concept is ingrained in most of us.

But a new beginning of what?

Look again at the scene

A Garden.

John, somewhat oddly records a case of mistaken identity

Mary thinks Jesus is the gardener.

Why record "trivia" in the midst of such glory?

Unless there is significance here.

This "Gardener" - walks in this garden of new beginning

A clear echo of his Father God who also walked

In another garden

At the first creation - beginning.

He walked then, asking

"Where are you?"

Reaching out.

But now, this exact image of God walked again

In a garden of new creation - beginning.

Reaching to another lost daughter of Adam.

But this time, unlike the first time

The new creation beginning would never end

He had overcome

And there would be a welcome for ever

In this garden.

No wonder Jesus said

"It is finished".
