Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching tem everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

Head Wounds

(Ephesians 6 v 17)

There is a view of how we are made

Which paints a "tripartite" picture in which we have

A body (pretty obvious)

A soul (fairly obvious)

A spirit (contained somewhere but don't really know where)

The realm of the soul is complex.

The way we think, decide, feel and choose

All happen in this realm.

And it is complex because our minds are complex.

Paul paints an analogous picture of a Roman soldier, all kitted out for the fight.

His body adorned with protection.

His head covered.

With salvation.

How does this work?

It works it seems by reading the Word of God?.."and the sword of the spirit"-says Paul.

One thing is for certain.

If I get a wound in any other part of me, I can still think

Strategise

Pray.

Love.

But, if I get a serious head wound. I'm out. depressed, under a cloud, without hope..

The enemy speaks-"you'll never make it.just give up.it won't make any difference."

After a while, paralysis can set in.

That's why I need to hear the voice of the Lord of Hosts.

And meditate on his Word.

It will help keep my head protected,

And my mind clear.

Then, despite any feeling, I can raise the shield, dispel the lie.

And fight on.

(The main thrust of this thought came from Derek Prince's book 'Spiritual Warfare' pub 1987, Whittaker House.)
