( 1 Peter 2 v 23 )
There is one inside everybody
Young or old, Rich or poor
The judge within us.
It sometimes surfaces when we assess the actions and intentions of others
And, if they come out favourably in our judgement, then we think well of them
But if they do not pass the "test"
Then they may not get off so lightly.
We may try to wear the wig, but we are not qualified.
There is one who was qualified to judge, and he lives within us
He knows the very thoughts of our hearts, yet he doesn't judge us.
When he went through the fire
He didn't judge his persecutors
Instead, he committed himself to the One who sees all
He "entrusted himself to him who judges justly"
Secure in the love of his Father, he did not retaliate.
There will be a time when we will even "judge angels"
But that is not yet.
For now, when turmoil comes so close
Let us keep judgements far away
And entrust ourselves to the judge of all the earth.
He will do right.
