Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching tem everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

Work

( John 6 v 28,29)

To be busy for it's own sake is not a good thing

But Jesus worked hard

There were times of intensity (but not stress)

And times of rest (but not idleness)

The Jews were, as always, wanting to know what to do.

And expecting some miracle

So they could believe.

Jesus, as always, taught by demonstration.

He taught that to feed the hungry was good

But not before he gave out some bread

He taught that to heal the sick was good

And showed repeatedly how it was done.

Those who looked on could have thought that this was the real work

To go out and "do".

But the real work was already done before any sick were raised or any loaves were multiplied.

Because the real work was to believe

And out of that would flow all else.

"What must we do" asked the crowd "to do the work God requires?"

"The work of God is this ", Jesus replied, "to believe on the one he has sent".

Imagine laying your head down at the end of the day, and saying to yourself

" I really worked today - I believed Jesus for everything".

More than ever we need to do this kind of work

And give thanks

And see some miracles happen.
