(Genesis 22)
Off they went.
Abraham, a couple of servants, a donkey and..
The Son Of The Promise.
What must have Abraham been thinking?
If faith needed a test, then surely this was it.
The wood for the sacrifice was loaded on the animal who walked unquestioningly
The son followed his father unquestioningly
Except one question: "where is the lamb that we will use for the sacrifice?" (vs 7)
The prophetic answer that still echoes through the ages "God himself will provide the lamb" (vs 8)
After 2 days travelling, on the morning of the third day, they came to a place where Abraham stopped.
The servants cannot come any further
The Donkey cannot come any further
We are going on to the place of sacrifice
A sacred place, a holy place.
The wood was loaded onto Isaac. His father carried "the fire and the knife" (vs 6)
And there he would place on the altar all that is precious and dear..
Where all that was ever promised would be given up..?and he would trust God for all of it.
Because he believed that God is Jehovah Jireh, whose provision will be seen... There at the place of sacrifice
Will I follow Abraham and gladly go to that place?
One thing I do know
Those who are ready to sacrifice all their plans, even those given by God are those who carry something.
The fire.
