(John 1)
This time it was final, once and for ever.
It's not that the Law was bad. Not at all.
It's just that Grace was better.
When the Law, which could not achieve righteousness by itself was lifted off stone, and written on receptive hearts, then something happened.
The word could be lived, not just preached.
So, Luke 1 v 37, having a meaning that "no spoken word of God shall be without ability" find it's flesh fulfillment in those who'se hearts have been impregnated with the Living Word.
Jesus.
Sent by the Father to be the Word which is "not without ability"
So, this Christmas, in this season, we can know afresh that Jesus in us is still the Word Made Flesh.
And we can reawaken to the realisation that, with this Word in us, there never needs to be brave resolutions for the New Year, or using human means alone to achieve His purposes.
Because Jesus, this Word in us, is not without ability.
He will accomplish all that he has promised, through us. That is his promise.
He will.
