Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching tem everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

Events

Here we give you an idea of some of our past events and activities:

The following hand-mime was performed by young people of Lister Hill Baptist Church, as part of our Youth Service 13/02/11

Temple Newsam

After a week of rain, the day at Burnsall had to be called off.  Not to be totally defeated a few of us spent a pleasent day at Temple Newsam.  We walked round the rose gardens, ponds, through the woods where we had our picnic. Then back to the house & coffee shop for afternoon refreshments.  The rain stayed away & even though numbers were few we had a great day.

Family Day By The River At Ilkley

Taking advantage of a sunny afternoon in April we had a afternoon in Ilkely.  A short walk by the riverbank, stone skimming, time in the playground, an obligatory icecream & football was enjoyed by all.

Feb 2009

Church Family Walk

On a cold bright Saturday afternoon at the end of January 2009 our intrepid explorers embarked on a 'pushchair friendly' (oh yeh!) walk around Bolton Abbey.

Nov 2008

Youth Alpha Celebration and church tea

The young people and their families were invited to an end of Alpha celegration tea followed by a evening service led by our young people.

The worship group and Tim's sermon were  again inspirational.

Nov 2008

BGs 1940s evening

What an evening our young people had.  It was back to the 1940s to learn new steps and experience that novelty of boys and girls dancing together.

Oct 2008

An Evening of Hope

We had over 100 people, from toddlers to dodderers at our Praise Party.  The evening opened with a challenging wall quiz for the older ones, with craft & games for the under 5s.

The food was excellent and there was sufficient for even the largest teenage appetite.  The quiz and games challenged young and old alike. although I'm not so sure about the construcution skills with the Marshmallow+Spaghetti towers.

The evening was wrapped up with a wonderful performance by Malachi4 which had everyone on their feet.

Hope08 Prayer Labyrinth

Another big THANK YOU to Sue and Jules from Scripture Union for this fantastic event.

We had over 57 people from Horsforth Churches joining together to pray in the X-Factor themed labyrinth.  There was a particular focus on our Youth Alpha and the Hope08 activities.

Everyone really enjoyed the event and the feedback has been very positive.

June 2008

Hope08 Litter Pick

Seven intrepid members of Lister Hill joined almost 100 other people form Horsforth churches to contribute towards the Hope08 goal of 1,000,000 hours of service to the community.  During a rain soaking 2 hours we filled 12 bags with litter from our local area, receiving some excellent compliments from passers by.

June 2008

Youth Service

Congratulations to our young people who led and served (yes they even washed up aftwards) at the evening service on Sunday 22nd June.

Tim's sermon was excellent and Jordan has a gifting for leading worship.

June 2008

Church Family Walk

On the afternoon of 7th June 2008 our intrepid explorers embarked on a 'pushchair friendly' (oh yeh!) walked to Golden Acre Park.

Although muddy in places and despite the odd flying tree (thanks to Tim & Pete) everyone had a great time and returned 'refreshed'.  We didn't even sink many ducks?

Picnic time in Golden Acre Park

Apr 2008

Church Family Walk

On the afternoon of 5th April 2008 over 30 hardy souls set out on a 2 ˝ mile walk around Roundhay Park.  The weather forecast had not been good ‘cold with a scattering of heavy showers’ & as we drove to the park hail beat down on the car.  However the weather was kind & the Lord really blessed the afternoon.   Yes a cold wind did blow down Waterloo lake but there was warm friendship as young & old walked & chatted.

Hopefully we will be having another walk at Swinsty Reservoir  during May – a little longer with time for a picnic lunch (plus sunshine we pray) – look out for details in the notices
